The great measure

"Who would have thought that to make a costume, you first have to draw a rectangle."

Bespoke, or grand measure, is a sensitive art, a quest for balance where each person becomes a world in their own right, and where each creation is a challenge to the tailor's know-how.

The great quality of a tailor-made garment lies in everything that cannot be seen, but can be felt.

The tailor is comparable to a sculptor, shaping a living material, he balances the gesture and offers perfect fluidity to the wearing of each piece, so that nothing hinders the movements.

Hearing

The first meeting is a moment of exchange with you in order to understand your expectations, your desires, and your needs. Listening is essential in the creation of a bespoke garment.

Then comes the taking of measurements and the choice of fabric, guided by our tailor according to the intended use, your preferences, but also your geographical environment. The very construction of the garment can vary according to these elements, as can the style and line you want.

The view

The eye is essential for the tailor, it is a trained measuring tool. He then begins by tracing the pattern, thus establishing a canvas for a first fitting. This second appointment is devoted to this fitting, a real three-dimensional sketch allowing the craftsman to visualize and refine the contours of the garment.

Using his chalk, he then marks the adjustments to be made.

The touch

The tailor's hand is the relay, the link between the mind and the material. Second fitting, he will have worked in depth on the piece: the fronts, the back, the sleeves, as well as the pants.

The exchange with the client continues throughout the meetings, gradually refining the achievement to perfectly meet their expectations.

Once all the observations have been taken into account, our craftsman finalizes the garment with precision: assembly of the collar, sleeves (specific to each tailor), hand-made buttonholes, and final ironing.

At Thuillier Paris, your bespoke clothing is entirely made by a single tailor, a rarity among Parisian houses. This approach guarantees unparalleled harmony and attention in each creation.

This concludes the first stage of the journey. The bespoke garment is handed over to its owner, ready to begin its new life. Over time, it may once again meet the hands of our craftsman, whether for maintenance or repair, thus extending its history.
